Rand as a highwalker

    "To either side lay the endless fall... Only in the dance along the razor's sharp edge was there even an uncertain safety."
Rand.    All best images by pOE are metaphorical. A rope-walker is a strong and precise metaphor for Rand. Only there is no rope under his feet; he is carefully balancing along an invisible line. Any wrong step - and he falls, and the world falls with him.
"It was as though he stood barefoot on a razor's edge above a bottomless drop, yet something told him this was the best that could be expected."

"Through endless corridors he ran,
dancing along the razor,
chasing the one who would slay him,
the one he must slay."

But look at the face of this equilibrist: it is surrounded by fire, but the expression is cold and suspicious. Trust, too, is an invisible way between two bottomless pits: "Deciding who to trust was always the difficulty, and trust a razor's edge."

This project started circa 1998, by Hamilton Cline (aka Kinslayor) and pOE. Several
artists drew one scene, and visitors voted. Above is a fragment of pOE's picture for
Duel #2: "Serve me or die." Below is one for the first Duel: "Kneel or be knelt".
